5 Ways To Power Up Your Blogging

be more effective at blogging

Will it help to redo your blog content?

After blogging for a while every Blogger comes to a stage where they start thinking about how to improve on what is being done already.

9 Out of 10 times, it is unnecessary to do anything but if you still have the urge to do something about bumping up your blog to the next level there are a few things that you can look at.

Just keep in mind that people come to your blog because they find it informative and captivating. We all know by now that the attention span of a web visitor is very short and there are many options available for them to move on to.

In the beginning, it is a habit of every Blogger to fiddle around with their blog layout and content in order to consistently improve on what they perceive to be no good.

This is not always good for your blog and productive time can be better spent on creating better and new content for the reader.

Your time can be spent more productively on marketing your blog around the various social media sites and other marketing channels.

5 Simple ways of quickly boosting your blog with old content

Once you feel comfortable that your content is good and you still feel the need to improve there are five ways of doing this.

First, remove all unnecessary clutter from your blog that might be distracting or irrelevant to the type of audience you are expecting.

Professional bloggers do this by minimizing the surrounding graphics while at the same time ensuring that the remaining graphics are relevant to the topic being presented.

If you are intending to make money with your block you would have a better idea now of what your branding strategy is and you can adapt your graphics to incorporate this.

The second thing that we look at is to revisit old blogs and expand or improve on the content already in there without making major changes.

After a while, you will find that you have gained new experience which you can now apply properly to older content. This is not a rewrite of old content but more polishing up off what you already have in there.

By updating the content the next thing you want to look at is your keywords used on the blog entry.

By now you would have investigated and learned more about search engine optimization which can help you to fine-tune your keyword selection. In the beginning, it does not matter much until you have built up a good archive of content and your blog has grown but at this stage, this type of refreshment might be what you need.

Next, it is very important for your blog and search engine optimization is the headlines used in your blog posts. By now you would have studied up and had an idea of how to construct headlines for your blog.

Redo all the headlines in your blog and you will very soon find that you have learned a lot.

Last but not least important. Go through your old blog entries and make sure that you insert new links that will point the reader to recent content that was not available in the past.

Keep in mind that too many links in one entry are distracting and the norm is to have only two to three links for each post.

What else can I do to improve my blog audience?

Well, there you have it five ways off powering up your blog to the next level without too much interference of what you already have there.

There are many other ways to ensure continuous improvement of your blogging skills but this only comes with experience.

As I said earlier it is often better to create more content then to waste away too much time on older content.

How much you can improve on your block also depends on the niche that you are in as some niches evolve quicker than others and new content is required more often.

Big Business In Blogging

grow your blogging into a business

Why do people start a Blog?

Most bloggers start blogging for the fun of it but sooner or later get caught up in the hype of how others are making it big with their blogs. For a guy like me, figures they throw around are huge and nobody can resist trying it.

I have learned to stop chasing and focus on creating content instead. Sharing useful content is the original reason why most people start a blog. I feel that all comes to those who are patient and sooner or later your efforts will kick in and that is when you start looking at making some money.

Operating a Blog needs commitment

After reading many articles about blogging and how others made it big I realized one thing:

Everyone who made it big was in the business of telling others how to get rich blogging.

What you seldom see is that there are millions more who make zero from blogging. Or let's say it is not a favorite topic. Who wants to go out there and tell a bunch of motivated bloggers that they are wasting their time?

Well, maybe my statement is a bit overboard but not untrue at all. All I am trying to say is that it is like anything else in life, some make it and some just don't.

The message I am trying to get across is that unless you try it you will never find out. Life is all about experiences and blogging can become one of yours. I get my satisfaction from writing and getting my ideas out there.

Can I make money with my blog?

So is there still room to make some money with a blog? With the research I have done I can say with confidence, yes you can. I am sharing with you what I have learned through my research an hopefully save you some time.

I have found some common factors between many of the successful blog writers.

  • They are all highly motivated individuals.
  • They deal with failure positively.
  • Has excellent marketing skills.
  • Are persistent in what they do.
  • Has been doing it for a long time before making it big.
  • They are professional and knowledgeable in their niche.
  • Tried and failed many times before.
  • Mostly comes from areas where population numbers are high.

What does it take to become a successful blogger?

The main question is do you have what it takes to make some money? Relating to the above factors you can if you have the characteristics that make a successful blogger. If not practice it while writing and one day you will be making money.

  • Be energetic as maintaining a blog is a 24hour job.
  • Be thick skinned and don't get distracted by negativity.
  • Market relentlessly everywhere and every second of the day.
  • Never stop believing that you are doing great.
  • Learn new things every day and try it all until you make it big.
  • Make sure you become a recognized expert in what you do.
  • See failure as an opportunity to try something different.
  • Create your own audience by connecting to the world.

At the end of the day, blogging is very hard work but it is yours and you are in charge of decision making. Like any other career, you followed you will reap the rewards when the time is right.

What Every Blogger Ought To Know About Headlines

headlines for your blog

Do You Struggle With Creating Headlines?

Sooner or later during your blogging career, your mind will start playing tricks with you. That is when you start wondering if your headlines are good enough. Even if you are anything like me who do not follow SEO strategies but do it for my pleasure the issue will still come up.

I have always come up with headlines in a way I feel I would've searched for it on Google. That was good enough for me. After running for a year and not many hits coming through I decided to follow the trend of how others are creating headlines.

What is the advice from professional bloggers?

Looking at the advice of content marketers there are a few things they are convinced that we can do with our headlines create more traffic more traffic. Here we will look at a few of them.

Tip # 1: Include Numbers in your headline

Every one of us has seen this trend developing on the web and even though it is quite annoying it seems that it might work. Everywhere we look we see "5 Best Movies of 2017", "10 Best Ways to comb your hair", "3 Best Dance Moves in Wonderland".

It does become a bit much for someone like me who does a lot of research on the web. My first thought when seeing a headline like that is "Do I take it seriously or is the author just copying someone else's ideas? Don't get me wrong I have used it myself but can't say if it works.

Maybe it has a psychological trigger for readers. I'm not sure but now apparently it was proven also that uneven numbers have a higher success rate.

Tip # 2: Punctuation as part of the headline

Now there is a school of thought that claims that having some form of punctuation in your headline makes it more searchable. I suppose years ago Paul Simon would've had to name one of his songs "Leaving your lover?: 50 Ways to do it" instead of "50 Ways to leave your lover". If not he would have never made the charts. So using hyphens and colons is what we can attempt on the next post.

Tip # 3: Attention-grabbing headline

Well at last something that makes sense. The attention span of a reader or as a matter of fact any human being is very short so it is essential that your headline must make an impact at a glance.

Tip # 4: Not too short and not too long

The headline must be long enough to build in the necessary keyword or two. Some say because readers scan a headline three to six words is ideal but it must not exceed 60 characters or search engines will shorten it.

Tip # 5: Evoke an emotion

There are many ways bloggers describe this but it comes down to the old sales tactic. Create a need. This is done by telling the reader why they need to know this information. Things like that create a feeling of guilt that they do not have knowledge.

How long before I can see blog visitors?

It often as in my case happens that you have tried everything but still it seems that no-one notices your post. Blogging is all about patience and a lot of other actions the blogger must take in order to be noticed. My advice is to be patient and just keep on creating content.

This way once you are discovered and you have the content your visitors will keep coming back.

Question: Do you believe the choice of your headlines made a difference to the success of your blog?
