Creating blogging time

Every part-time Blogger I know has come to a stage where he wants to know how to fit the time in to create new content as often as some of the big boys in the business. It is not easy for a part-time blogger to turn out 6-7 blog posts in a week and still maintain the quality of the content.

This will mostly depend greatly on the niche that you are in but you still sit with a problem finding those extra precious minutes that you can sit down and lay down your content in blog post form.

Let's face it after blogging for quite a while you realize that there is only one way to attract attention and that is to create content. Valuable and informative content is the key to creating an audience and generating lifelong followers.

Consistency is the key to success

If there's one thing that you realize as a blogger very soon during the process then it is that you will need a lot of content to create domain authority. There is nothing wrong with starting small but eventually, you will have to have enough content on your blog that can drive organic traffic.

It has been proven that once you have started your blog it is important that you can keep a stream of constant content. The minute you stop your followers will start disappearing and your audience will drop. This is also an important Factor in SEO as the algorithm always looks for new and fresh content.

If the algorithm finds that your blog has not been worked on for a while it will start looking for different content that is more updated than the ones that you have already produced. That is why the only way you keep your blog alive is by adding new content all the time.

Incorrect ways to speed up blogging

But trying to get past generating quality content new bloggers will fall into the trap of listening to all the so-called gurus on YouTube. Some of the advice given cannot be taken seriously as it will diminish the quality of your blog and the google algorithm will pick up on this very quickly.

The three main ways that you can try and speed it up through bad advice are:
  • Respinning somebody else's content
  • Copy and paste from original articles
  • Transcribing videos into blog content
  • Purchasing PLR articles

Respinning somebody else's content

It is common that they suggest you collect pieces of content from other people's blog posts and then respin to present it as your own idea. Respinning is the act of putting the original content through software that will rephrase it in such a way that it cannot be recognized as not being original.

This does not matter to the Google algorithm as it will pick up that you are saying the same thing somebody else has already said. Google algorithms are getting more sophisticated by the day and on recognizing this they will ignore it and look for content that has not been presented before. Should you carry on this practice Google will eventually totally ignore your website and mark is not relevant.

Copy and paste from original articles

Copy and paste from original articles can be seen as outright piracy and should not be a strategy that you follow. Unfortunately, there will be many that will try and convince you that it is not when you take small pieces of content from different sources and then combine them into one full article.

Once again you might get away with it for a while but eventually, Google algorithms will catch up with you and your blog will suffer. The last thing you want is for Google to recognize us as a copyright infringer.

Transcribing videos into blog content

Lately, I have seen a lot of YouTubers that suggest you transcribe YouTube videos into blog content or vice versa. That is no different than what we have mentioned above already. The time you spend respinning to someone else's article is valuable time you could have spent on creating your own quality content.

There is nothing wrong with looking at other people's content for the purpose of research but you have to put your own twist on the end product. Your purpose should always be to add more value to the content already out there on the web if you want to make it as a blogger.

Purchasing PLR articles

It is possible to get away with purchasing PLR articles related to your niche but it has problems of its own which you should be aware of. The main fact is that these articles might have been purchased by many others like you and therefore they will be picked up as duplicated content.

Your money will be spent better by paying a content creator on Fiverr or one of the other freelancing platforms to create your content. In this way, you will ensure that the content you get and place on your blog is unique.

How much content do you need on your blog?

The main question you will ask in the beginning when you start your blog is how much content do I need? This is a very difficult question to answer outright as it will depend on many factors that only you can control.

Experienced bloggers will tell you that they started ranking on Google after only the first two or three articles but this seldom happens so don't expect this to happen all the time. As Google SEO is based on domain authority it will take a couple of well-written quality blog posts before it will even consider ranking you.

Some of the factors that will determine the amount of content you will need are:

  • The type of blog
  • Your niche
  • The types of content

The type of blog

You get different types of blogs and Google expects to see a certain type of content on these blogs. The main type of blogs that you will find are:
  • Informative content
  • Video content
  • Shopfronts
  • Review website
  • Forum website
  • Online software services

Each of these will require different amounts of content as long as it is relevant to what the Google algorithm perceives it should be. For example, if you have listed it as a forum website the algorithm will expect to see a forum and not a shop front.

On the other hand, if you are running a blog or website that is classed as informative then it might take you a while longer because it will first assess if you are an authoritative figure in the niche you are presenting.

The general feeling from experienced bloggers is that with an informative website it can take you anywhere up to 12 months to make an impact on the Google search engine. The good thing about this is that it will give you sufficient time to build up a good arsenal of quality content.

Your niche

The niche market that you are targeting can also be the determining factor in how much content you will need to produce. That is why it is easier to create content into a micro-niche because you have the opportunity to create fresh new content. If you are targeting a well-presented niche then it will be more difficult because your content will be judged against what is already available.

There are some niches that will need to have more content in order for Google to make sense of what your website is all about. Remember it will be looking at user experience as a first option so your topics will have to be well covered with useful content the key.

The types of content

The quantity of content on your website will also depend on the types of content that you are using to bring across the message. Obviously, a video blog will be required to mainly consist of video material. On the other hand, a photography website or blog will be expected to display a fair amount of images within the content.

Many bloggers are trying to fill the blog by mixing up different content types in order to fill space. It can work if you have the right balance of content type and it is related to your topic of discussion. Having too many different types of content on your blog can be confusing to the Google algorithm.

A blog structure is more important than having content that will spoil the user experience.

How can I make blogging faster?

I have experienced that there are three important ways with which you can speed up your blogging process if you are pressed for time.
  • Planning your blog
  • Create draft posts
  • Text to speech

Planning your blog

Spend some time planning what content you are intending to put on your blog by using a mind map starting with an overview of your blog niche and expanding from there into smaller topics.

Breaking down your content in this way makes it easier for you to think about new topics and the headlines you can create.

By doing this you can easily build up a list of hundred or more blog post topics that you can create over time.

It also gives your blog an organized feel and makes it easier for your audience to follow what you are doing.

Some of your audience will come back if they know what direction you are heading in and it will create an expectancy that they must come back later to see if you have covered everything they are looking for.

As an example how often did you go back to older blog posts of others where you have previously found some useful information, hoping that what you are currently looking for might also be part of the content by the blogger that has helped you out in the past?

Create draft posts

The next step in creating my content quicker is to sit and create draft posts of all the headlines I have created to date in my mindmap.

It can take me a whole afternoon to create 50 or more drafts like this. Not only does it serve as a reminder that you have content to create but it also helps you to get straight into it without having to do research on it.

One of the biggest enemies of a blogger is a distraction and trying to create content the same as writing an article will lead to distraction.

What this does for me is that when I have the time to do some writing I do not have to go and wonder what I will write about.

Logging into my blog I can immediately start going at whichever headline appeals to me the most from the draught posts created.

I also carry a list of these draft post headlines on my smartphone so when I do have a couple of minutes I make use of it by at least starting the introduction on each post. In no time I have several posts completed to a point where they just need some cleaning up before posting.

Text to Speech

Finally, my favourite is the use of Speechnotes to write my blog content much quicker. I was so impressed with Speechnotes that I have even put together a small tutorial on YouTube for you to use if you are interested.

For you who do not know what Speechnotes is, it is an online dictating software where you can dictate your content into the mic and Speechnotes will convert it to text which you can copy and paste into your blog posts.

Using this in conjunction with Grammarly makes it so much easier to enter your blog editor and prepare the post to a stage where you are ready to launch.

3 Easy ways to make blogging faster - Conclusion

Well, hopefully, the above 3 tips will help other part-time bloggers like me to become more efficient in what they do and provide useful content to their audience on a consistent basis.

Just always remember that the Google algorithm is watching you and it is looking for a good user experience, relevant content, and consistency.

Filling your blog with duplicate content won't help anyone so it is important to be more creative than others in the same niche.
